‘Childhood is fleeting, but brotherhood is forever.’
— Rhonda Mason

Photo essay by Rhonda Mason—an Australian writer, designer, photographer, and visual artist. Born in Hong Kong, Rhonda lives in Sydney with her husband Rick and five of their six boys. Their first child, Cameron, was stillborn at forty-one weeks in 2007, but he remains a big part of their family. Rhonda’s book, Life Without Cameron, documents her journey of grief and loss.

In addition to writing and making art, Rhonda’s passion is documenting her family life through both photography and journaling. Through workshops and online classes, she’s been teaching others her memory-keeping methods since 2013—because life is fleeting and every story matters. Over the years, Rhonda’s written a large collection of articles on her approach to documenting life, along with her own stories about motherhood, family life, and grief. These can be found on her new website. You can also follow Rhonda on Instagram and subscribe to her Pink Ronnie newsletter on Substack.
