Summer Adventure

“Over the last few months, I’ve started picking up my camera more intentionally with my own kids. Not just for the ‘big’ moments like birthdays and holidays, but for the little pockets of time when we’re out together. Adventure Sessions—where I let the experience lead the way—have become one of my favorite methods for photographing my children. For us, that’s looked like taking a muddy hike to a waterfall in the Catskill Mountains, writing in nature journals, going on scavenger hunts, looking for seashells or sea glass on the beach near my parents house, walking around an amusement park at the Jersey Shore, visiting the Bear Mountain Zoo with cousins, and staying over at a cute motel for one night, just to name a few. Taking my kids on these mini adventures and documenting them through my lens has become such a beautiful rhythm. It slows us all down, giving me the freedom to create new work, experiment with different film stocks/mediums, and preserve these memories for myself and the people I love most.”
