This week we are thrilled to be partnering with an organization very near and dear to our hearts! Amani Ya Juu is a sewing and reconciliation program for marginalized women in Africa; they provide women with useful skills, paid work, and a safe space to gather for friendship and community.
In 1996, Amani started with four women sewing placemats together in Nairobi. Since then, they have grown to over 200 women representing diverse communities all across Africa. Amani has established a presence of peace in several African countries as women return to their homelands to begin their own peace-building initiatives.
Amani ya Juu is committed to holistic development. Women gain experience in stitching, quality control, purchasing, bookkeeping, management and design. As new women enter the program they are mentored in quality workmanship with an emphasis on ethical business practices and harmonious relationships. All products are made of natural materials and are handcrafted to compliment Amani’s line of beautiful products.
